Receiver-In-The-Ear
Receiver-In-The-Ear (RITE) hearing aids: all of the electronic parts are contained in a miniature case that rests behind the ear. The case is connected to ultra thin tubing with a soft rubber tip that fits in the ear; in some cases a custom made mini ear-mold is necessary.
This style of hearing aid reduces complaints of occlusion (plugged feeling), increases comfort and reduces feedback. It is a very cosmetically appealing hearing aid that is almost invisible due to the miniature case and ultra thin tube.

Behind-The-Ear
Behind-The-Ear (BTE) hearing aids: all of the electronic parts are contained in a small case that rests behind the ear. The case is connected to a custom made ear-mold by clear tubing. The custom ear-mold is used to direct the sound from the hearing aid into your ear.
People with a wide range of hearing loss from mild to profound can be fit with BTE hearing aids. This style is one of the most durable because all of the electronics are behind the ear. They need less repair and tend to have a long life expectancy.

In-The-Ear
In-The-Ear (ITE) hearing aids: this style of hearing aid is custom made and fills most of the outer ear. All of the electronic components are within the shell of the hearing aid. People with a wide range of hearing loss from mild to severe can be fit with ITE hearing aids.
The ITE style is visible to others because it is the largest style of custom made hearing aids but they are typically the easiest to insert in the ear.

In-The-Canal
In-The-Canal (ITC) hearing aids: this style of hearing aid is custom made, smaller in size and fits deeper in the ear canal. They are typically less visible than the In-The-Ear hearing aids. People with a range of hearing loss from mild to moderate can be fit with this style.
This style of hearing aid can include features that a smaller custom made hearing aid cannot. Such as, volume controls. This style is also easy to use with the telephone.

Completely-In-The-Canal
Completely-In-The-Canal (CIC) hearing aids: this style of hearing aid is custom made, smaller in size and fits deep in the ear canal. It is one of the least visible styles. People with a range of hearing loss from mild to severe can be fit with this style.
The CIC hearing aids due to their small size may not be suitable for some people because of the shape of their ear canal. They may be more difficult to handle due to their small size and will have a shorter battery life. However, they are very discreet, work well on the telephone and reduce the chance of feedback.

Invisible-In-The-Canal
Invisible-In-The-Canal (IIC) hearing aids: this style of hearing aid is custom made, it is the smallest in custom made styles and sits deepest in the ear canal. It is considered to be the invisible hearing aid. All of the electronic components are within the shell of the hearing aid. People with a range of hearing loss from mild to moderate can be fit with this style.
This IIC hearing aid due to its very small size may not be suitable for some people because of the shape and physical size of their ear canal. This hearing aid sits very deep in the ear canal and does not have any manual controls. It is designed to be invisible, adapt automatically as sounds and environments change and it has no impact on headphones or telephone usage.
